PROJECT: FUNCTIONAL PHYSICAL THERAPY
LOCATION: WATERFORD, MI
COMPLETED:  MAY 1, 2011
SIZE: 8,000 sf
BUDGET: $600,000

Inspired by the Dutch-Modern style of architecture, this building has almost “extreme” visual impact. Located along a very dense, commercial corridor of franchises, big boxes, strip malls, and outlets, Functional Physical Therapy had to catch the eye. Underneath the new stylized De Stijl grid, there was a tired, dilapidated one level commercial building. The footprint and some structure were preserved to keep from having to adapt site changes.

The exterior is a combination of fiber cement, glass and aluminum trim. The primary use of the “lightbox” double high space is the workout floor. Inspiring high energy and rejuvenation for people whose ailment may need months or years of recovery is partially the job of the architect.
